The Holy Spirit
A Person, Not a Force

The Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Trinity, and he is already at work in your life. This page is an invitation to say yes to that.

The Holy Spirit is not waiting for you to be ready. He is already reaching out. Every day is a chance to ask him in, not once, but again and again, as a practice, a posture, a daily turning toward God. He will not force his way in. That part is yours. But when you ask, he comes. Scripture puts it simply and beautifully: “How much more will the Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.” Luke 11:13

Introduction

Who is

the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Holy Trinity, fully God, fully present, and fully active in the life of every believer. He is not an energy or a feeling. He is a person who dwells in you, prays in you, and moves through you when you let him.

Symbols and Signs

How the Spirit

makes himself known

The Holy Spirit reveals himself through signs: a dove, fire, wind, water, oil. These are not decorative images. They are windows into his nature and the way he moves.

Fruits of the Spirit

What a Spirit-filled Life

looks like

The fruits of the Holy Spirit are not achievements you work toward. They are what naturally grows in a life that stays close to God. St Paul names nine of them in Galatians 5:22 to 23: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

Gifts of the Spirit

Seven Gifts

given to every believer

The gifts of the Holy Spirit are wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord. They are not reserved for saints or mystics. They come with baptism and grow with prayer.
