Homilies
& Reflections

Priests who preach with fire, depth, and a love for the word of God. A place to keep coming back to.

For a long time, the sermons that moved me most came from voices outside the Catholic tradition. They were good, and they were real, and I am grateful for them. But it was only later that I found this extraordinary pool of Catholic priests who preach in a way that goes straight through you. Theology, Scripture, culture, the struggles of ordinary life, all of it held together in a single homily that stays with you for days. Whenever I get the chance, I come back to these voices. This is a small collection of the ones I return to most.

What Makes a Homily Different

Rooted in the Sunday readings

A homily is not a motivational talk or a theological lecture. It is a reflection on the Scripture readings of the Mass, offered by a priest to help the faithful receive the word of God more deeply and carry it into the week. The best ones do not just explain the text. They open it up so that something in you shifts. These are priests who do that consistently.

Where to Begin

Voices that meet you where you are

Whether you are new to the faith, returning after years away, or simply looking for something that speaks to real life, these voices are excellent places to start.

Going Deeper

More voices, more territory

These voices cover ground that goes further into particular areas of the faith: spiritual warfare, Divine Mercy, Marian devotion, conversion, the interior life, and the preaching of a century past that has lost none of its power.

The Voice of the Church

The Holy Father

The Pope speaks to the whole Church and to the whole world. His homilies, general audience addresses, and encyclicals are among the most important teaching documents in Catholic life. All of them are freely available on the Vatican website. Pope Leo XIV, elected in May 2025, has already published his first apostolic exhortation and his first encyclical.

Magnifica Humanitas — On the Protection of Human Dignity in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

Signed on May 15, 2026, on the 135th anniversary of Leo XIII’s Rerum Novarum, this encyclical addresses the defining questions of our age: how to safeguard the dignity of every human person in an era of accelerating technological change. Pope Leo XIV frames the challenge between the Tower of Babel and the rebuilding of Jerusalem under Nehemiah. Essential reading.

Dilexi Te — On the Church’s Care for the Poor

In continuity with Pope Francis’ final encyclical on the Sacred Heart, Pope Leo XIV’s first exhortation calls the Church to a love of God that is inseparable from love for the poor.

A Note

This list is just a starting point

This collection is in no way exhaustive. The Catholic preaching tradition is vast and rich, spanning centuries and continents. What is here is simply what has moved me personally or what I have found to be genuinely helpful for people in different places in their faith. Follow the voices that speak to where you are right now. And when you are ready, go further. The Church has never lacked for people who can preach.
